Memories and D.C.

My Hillsdale email will disappear tomorrow. Because of that I took the time to go through my Hillsdale account and save out email addresses of people I want to contact at some point. I also found all the emails that I sent to my professor while I was in D.C. I saved them all in a file because they make a very good record of my time there. I enjoy memories, so I tend to save stuff like that. I keep a jounral as well, although it has been ages since I have written in it.

Anyway, here's one of the funnier things I sent to my prof:

"The following are things that I have learned and that every intern should know:

"Never give the wrong mail to the wrong LA. After all, it is always easier to come back, shout at the person who gave you the wrong mail and leave the piece of mail with them than it is to toss the piece of mail over the top of the next cubicle.

"Press secretaries have the most fun.

"Everyone is happy when the Congressman leaves for Oklahoma.

"Hearings are boring unless you are weird (I am weird).

"Watching C-Span after hours is only for constituents.

"Oklahomans are wonderful people and Oklahoma is a wonderful place.

"Will Rogers was from Oklahoma and if you rub the feet of his statue you will have good luck . . . and rub the paint off his feet.

"Capitol Police should be listened to at all times, especially the one who stands at the front of the capitol with a machine gun.

"Carl Albert was a short man.

"And of course, NEVER go sightseeing on a day when a million protesters in pink shirts choose to invade your city."
